The missing son is/was/has been found. And before I am called all sorts of names for being an unsympathetic prick... this is OPPOSITE LOCK. And the photo is kind of creepy. There. I said it.

Turn Tiger off and the pic goes away.

You realize that literally not one single person has control over what shows up there, right?

Can we extend the boycott until the other trash Gawker cross-posts are removed? Maybe let Lifehacker stay...maybe...

Yeah its opposite lock but this is an off topic forum for anything, mainly cars but also anything else. I mean I saw someone post a bunch pictures last week of a woman doing nude yoga poses. No one made a post about how that shouldn't be on here.

That's because she was not 96 years old

I understand your position about the "off topic" forum. But to defend my position a bit, I would most definitely boycott Oppo if there was a picture of a woman doing nude yoga poses on the front page for a few days as well. My post wasn't so much about a 96 year old woman (my grandma is 97 and I love her), it was that the photo was up on the front page of this site for a few days straight. I just didn't want to see it any more. I wouldn't be offended if people didn't want to see a photo of my grandma on the front page of Oppo either despite my affection for her.

Thank you. I did not know this.

Well it's only the top story on oppo because it has the most clicks, which means people read that story the most, so, if I were to argue in your favor, I would say don't boycott oppo, you need to boycott the author. It's in the same vein of the age old argument of, don't blame the tool blame the operator of the tool.

This is true. I does have quite a few clicks... 67k+ at the moment.
There are just a few things that weird me out about it though. What I don't understand is how it got so many clicks in one day. It seems like it was just a repost to say that the son was found even though the son was actually found in July of last year. Which just makes me think that the author of the post was simply trying to get on the front page. If he really cared, why wasn't he on top of the story since he originally posted the "missing persons" story? Missing son. Plea for help. Old person on internet. Creepy photo. Update that is 8 months late. I say click bait to get to the top.
I'm not mad about it. It just kinda rubs me the wrong way. More so that naked women doing yoga.

Yeah I get where you are coming from, plus this thing is still circulating around facebook as well, just sort of the downfall of stuff that goes viral on the internet, it stays viral. It is a bit weird and all, but when everything is said and done, this is oppo after all, who would we be if not weird as shit.
